§ 66-4. Schedule of regulations.

  • (a)

    The types of sign functions and structures permitted by district are as follows:

    Area, height, placement and illumination regulations are as follows:

    Ten square feet of sign per one foot of setback from property line. Maximum of 200 square feet except in zones C-3, D-1 and D-2 a maximum of 300 square feet permitted. Maximum height of 15 feet in RM-H zone of 28 feet in C-1 and C-3 zones. Maximum height of 30 feet in RM-1, RM-2, D-1 and D-2 zones. Sign may not overhang any public right-of-way. If located within 20 feet of any public right-of-way, there must be a minimum unobstructed distance of ten feet from the sidewalk or grade to the bottom of the sign. See section 66-10, Illumination.
    Wall or flat Two square feet total signing per length of width of ground floor business. Maximum of 200 square feet. The average height of the letters or components shall not exceed 36 inches. Length of sign shall not exceed one-half of the length of the wall upon which the sign is placed; up to a maximum of 30 feet extension from face of building shall not exceed 12 inches. Same as
    above.
    Projecting Maximum area shall not exceed 35 square feet for a building with front elevation or face of 40 feet or less. Maximum area shall not exceed 50 square feet for a building with a front elevation or face of 40 feet or more. Maximum of 25 feet however, not to exceed four feet above roofline. Sign may not overhang any public right-of-way.;sup\sup;There must be a minimum unobstructed distance of ten feet from the sidewalk or grade to the bottom of sign. Same as

    Marquee Maximum of 50 square feet. Height shall not exceed top of face or valance of the marquee, awning or canopy on which the sign is located. Shall be attached to and contain the perimeter of the face or valance of a marquee, awning or canopy. Shall not exceed an eight foot extension from the face of the building wall, nor be closer than three feet to the curbline. Same as
    above.
    Roof 1.5 square feet per lineal foot of ground floor business frontage. Maximum of 200 square feet. Maximum height of roof sign shall not exceed ten feet nor shall it extend more than 20 feet above roofline. Upon or over roof of building. Same as
    above.
    Billboard Maximum of 300 square feet. Maximum 825 square feet along freeway by special permit from zoning board of appeals. Maximum of 28 feet in C-3 zone and maximum of 35 feet in D-1 and D-2 zone. If located within 20 feet of any public right-of-way there must be a minimum unobstructed distance of ten feet from the sidewalk or grade to the bottom of the sign. There shall be a minimum lineal distance of 500 feet between billboards located on the same side of any road, highway or freeway. Same as

    ;sup\sup;Where a building in a C-2 district is located within five feet of the public right-of-way, a sign may project into the public right-of-way for a distance not to exceed five feet, provided that it is attached structurally to a canopy or overhang and does not exceed five square feet in area.

    The area required for all signs shall be per sign face.
